DR. HASSAN ABBAS KHAN

Dr. Hassan Abbas Khan is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at LUMS and currently serves as Director of the Office of Research (OR). He is a founding member of LUMS Energy Institute, Senior Editor of e-Prime (Elsevier Journal) and a Senior Member of the IEEE. As Director OR, Dr. Khan provides strategic academic leadership to advance research excellence, innovation, and technology commercialization across the university, enabling pathways that translate high-impact research into real world and industry relevant solutions.

Dr. Khan received his BSc in Electronic Engineering from GIKI, Pakistan, and his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK. His research focuses on sustainable energy systems, including decentralized electrification using solar energy, grid-tied solar PV systems, and the evolving dynamics of modern power grids, with an emphasis on energy storage and electric vehicles. His work also contributes to evidence-based policymaking for emerging and disruptive technologies in the utility grid. Notably, Dr. Khan’s work bridges advanced engineering research and policy development, contributing to informed decision-making for sustainable energy transitions.
