Enabling Municipalities to Harness Digital Data

This study led by Dr. Naveed Arshad, Associate Professor at SBASSE, maps how non-residential buildings typically have a vast demand for electricity due to a range of ongoing processes such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and other high-consumption devices. To conserve energy without compromising operational aspects and overall comfort, a diverse range of interventions are needed. There is a need to develop a better suited energy management system for non-residential buildings in Pakistan that is customized according to indigenous conditions. For this purpose, this study aims to demonstrate the impact of digital energy data for utilization in an Energy Management System (EnMS) for large buildings. The project will involve extensive real-time data collection from various high-power consuming appliances and main distribution boxes in the selected buildings. This data will be processed to yield various short and long-term measures that can be implemented to enhance the energy efficiency of such buildings. The final result will be a web application that enables data utilization by the wider community.
